Today is our

8th wedding anniversary. Can you believe it? I certainly can't. We celebrated our 15th year together in May and today is the 8th anniversary of our wedding. My how time flies! O k SO I get ready to head out to lunch to celebrate, Alyssa came over to babysit the boys. I came out of the bathroom, grabbed the railing to head down the stairs and well yes - I fell down the stairs. Yep slipped down the stairs - again while holding a railing - whaled my back and my arm.

Happy Birthday Christopher!

So yesterday was Christopher's 5th birthday. In the morning Auntie Sa called to wish him a happy birthday and when she asked him if he was happy to be 5 now this was the conversation. C - No I 4 1/2 Sa - you are 5 today C - No I not Sa - well how old are you then? C- 4 and 1/2 Sa - when will you be 5 then C (now crying) after my friends get here and we have cake Little did he know that he did not have any friends coming over for his party. We had a big party in August for both boys and they already got all their gifts then. I did however, have a cake for yesterday and I wanted to take the kids to Chuck E Cheese, but circumstances beyond my control prevented that. Auntie Sa and Uncle Nando came up to pick up a radio that I helped Uncle Nando buy through E-bay. We got Chinese food for dinner and had cake afterward. While we were eating and getting ready for cake. Christopher wanted to know where his friends and presents were. I told him that we were not having any additional company and we already gave him his presents. Well this did not make him happy, to say the least. So I scurried around the house to find something to wrap for him. I found 2 things, wrapped them really quick and we sang happy birthday. Christopher doesn't like cake to eat. He only likes to eat the frosting off the cake. But he will not take a piece of cake to steal the frosting, he has to stick his finger in the frosting. Thankfully there was not too many of us here on Friday night so he could do it. He opened the first present with all the excitement building up inside of him. When he opened it he went from happy to angry in about 1.2 seconds. He was p!ssed. Then he opened the second one and was OMG so much angrier. He started yelling that he already had these things and where were his real presents. He told me that I was the meanest Mommy and he was mad at me. He didn't t stop crying until Auntie Sa gave him $5 to go shopping with....Too funny - Therapy here we come.

Update on Jonathan's second head injury of the week

I must sound like such an awful parent when this is being read. But any who. I took Jonathan to see the doc this morning and she checked his wound, it looks fine. While I was there I was telling her that I had been up since 2 am with Jonathan because he kept telling me that he was going to pro-up (throw-up). When I told her this she said that was a telltale sign that he suffered a mild concussion this week with his 2 head injuries. She told me to keep an eye on him to try to help him not fall again. I laughed and said that the first fall was because he tried to walk to the bathroom with his eyes closed and tripped. The second fall was because I asked him to stop running on the rocks and when he did stop he slid on some sand and up went the legs. So we stayed in this afternoon and laid low. Well as low as possible. I am watching Katie and Brian's kids for today, all of next week and the following Monday. Can you say CRAZY!!!! 2 - 5 year olds, a 3 year old and an 18 month old......It is the 5 year olds that will do me in.

Jonathan's 2nd head injury of the week

On Wednesday afternoon we went to get Christopher at school and while we were waiting for the doors Jonathan was running around. He was climbing up the stairs, running down the ramp and scaling the side of the wall using the railing for help. I asked him to stop that so he turned his attention to running up and down the other side of the building where the rocks are. I asked him to stop doing that too. Well, as he was running back to me he slipped on the sand and fell down on the pavement. I went over to pick him up and he was crying. I rubbed his head and told him he was fine because there was no blood. Well upon further inspection there was a hole in the back of his head. Now I panic. I get into school, go to the bathroom for a wet towel and start wiping his head. And I the hole was winking at me. Ms. Tricia came over to check on me and she thought I should have him looked at. I get outside, into the car and start dialing my cell. I called the doctor's office - they are usually very accommodating during my panic state - they told me that they were booked solid and to go to the ER. I called Steve and let him know. Then I called Karyn, it only took Alyssa 2 calls to answer me, but Karyn wasn't home. Then I lost it. Poor Alyssa had to figure out what I was saying through my hysterical tears. She says, I will find mommy. Karyn called within minutes and said that she would meet me at the ER. Thank heavens for Karyn!!!! While I was in triage Karyn got to the hospital. She could hear Jonathan crying from the waiting room, he was pissed that the nurse was touching him. He freaked out over the hospital band on his arm. We started to watch a movie in the waiting room when we were given a room. Doc came in, looked at the wound, said he was fine and was sending us on our merry way. Me being the panicking mommy said, don't you think he needs an x-ray. This is his second head injury in the last week, I really think that you may want to check him over better. She said that he looked fine and was showing proper emotions, crying when she touched him and being fine when she left him alone. I asked again and she said no. So off to Nicdonild's with Karyn and the boys for lunch. I figured it was the least I could do for her, she did come to my rescue. Thanks again Auntie Kawyn.

Update on Jonathan's eye.

Jonathan's eye is starting to look worse. Check out these photos.

My exhausted child...

...Christopher fell a sleep on the couch sitting up holding a stuffed flower. He had been grouchy all afternoon. We walked to school yesterday to get the kids from school and my carriage was in the car that daddy had so I had to carry Jonathan. Christopher had to walk home he whined and complained most of the time but he completed the walk? Did I mention that it was raining and that I forgot to wear a coat type thing of any kind? Yeah - no jacket, no sweatshirt, just my brumpy bear t-shirt - that is grumpy bear for those of you not in the know.

Surprise for my niece.

So Taylor, my niece, got sick last week. She was sent to Children's in Boston. On Saturday morning her parents were told that she had a brain tumor. She was operated on this past Wednesday and remarkably sent home on Friday evening. She is doing great. Her prognosis for a full recovery is excellent. While she was in the hospital all she talked about was that she wanted a chinchilla. Melissa told me this and I was off and running. I got a baby boy chinchilla with a cage from a wonderful person named Chris in Pelham, Thanks Chris! I went today and had a ball at Petco. Jonathan was tired from walking to school to pick up Christopher and Shelby. He fell asleep in the car and stayed sleeping through my shopping trip to Petco. I got home and he stayed sleeping most of the afternoon. Above is a picture of Taylor and Daddy (Fernando) the day of her surgery. Also pictures of her new chinchilla alone and with Christopher. Christopher loves pets. I think that if I let him he would have one or more of everything. He thinks the chinchilla is his. Boy will he be surprised when it's visit is over.
